The ASB office was packed with students waiting to purchase their tickets, and pick up their buttons. You’re probably thinking, buttons? What buttons?
This year Live Oak thought to make the event a little bit more exciting and a little easier on the ladies. So buttons were provided for the young men at Live Oak. These buttons either read, “Ask me,” or “Taken.” Therefore, the girls would know whether or not they had a date yet.
Thursday afternoon during lunch, DJ Rich from Spotlight Entertainment visited the Live Oak campus to provide entertainment and also brought a request list to find out what the students wanted to hear the night of their first dance.
The weekend approached and the dance was finally here. This Saturday Live Oak and Sobrato High School came together to dance the night away at Coyote Ranch.
DJ Rich did and excellent job paying attention to what the students wanted to hear. The dance floor was packed with students from both schools the entire night.
But that wasn’t the only thing to do there. Students were all over the ranch enjoying themselves in many ways: hayrides, gettin’ hitched, munching on hot-dogs and chips by the barbecue, taking pictures, or hanging out by the fire. Every couple there was dressed to impress with their matching attire.
At Live Oak, we have always done homecoming court and prom court, but never a Mr. and Mrs. Sadie Hawkins. This was the first year. By the crowd’s applause the winners of Mr. and Mrs. Sadie Hawkins were crowned by their cowboy hats.
The winners were: Tanya Ferry and Mike Devine (freshman), Laura Dudek and Chris Nicholos (sophomores), Danielle Austin and Brandon Greene (juniors), and Mattie Smith and Kris Mott (seniors). Congratulations to them, our first ever Mr. and Mrs. Sadie Hawkins.
After all the excitement and preparation, the night came to an end. For those seniors it was their last Sadie Hawkins dance. For the other classes, I’m sure they cannot wait until next year, because all in all it was a blast!
Now Live Oak prepares for homecoming coming up in October. So keep reading to see what us crazy nuts are up to next!
