After completely missing out on an opportunity to go the California Interscholastic Federation State Championship at Woodward Park in Fresno a year ago, Sobrato senior Ryan Corvese wasn’t going to let this year’s chance pass him by.

Corvese ran a personal best time of 15:33 at the 5,000-meter course to finish in fifth place. He missed the top spot by only 15 seconds, as Campolindo’s Aidan Goltra (15:18) took first.
