Fire engines responded to a grass fire north of Morgan Hill about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.
About 4:25 p.m. an operator at the Cal Fire dispatch center said engines quickly stopped the forward progress of the fire when they arrived.
He said the fire at Lantz Drive and Scheller Avenue did not exceed about 50 feet by 100 feet in size.
The blaze did not pose any immediate threat to a nearby agriculture structure.
The fire was about six miles north of Cochrane Road and half a mile west of Monterey Road.
