Halloween season will start early in Morgan Hill with a double Creature Feature tonight, Oct. 2, at the Granada Theater.
The double-billed horror flicks will serve to delight fans and raise funds for the upcoming Poppy Jasper Film Festival.
On the lineup are 1955’s “It Came from Beneath the Sea” about a giant octopus that attacks San Francisco, and 1964’s “The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb” about an American entrepreneur who brings the mummified remains of Egyptian Prince Ra to England with disastrous results.
“These two films were chosen because they have the fun, “camp” factor that brings to mind a classic double-feature,” said Kim Bush, PJFF chair.
The spooky mood will be immediately obvious when moviegoers walk through the Granada’s doors.
“We have it on good authority that the Granada lobby will be haunted on Oct. 2,” said marketing chair Rosemary Rossell with a wink.
Tickets, at the door, for the Creature Double-Feature are $15 and include drinks and refreshments. A raffle will be held featuring prizes donated by several downtown merchants.
The Creature Feature will be the final fundraiser before the first-ever film festival on Nov. 12-14.
“The double-feature has gone the way of the baseball double-header; pretty much a relic of the past,” Bush said. Creature Double-Feature will take place downtown at the Granada Theater, 17440 Monterey Road. Show time is 7:30pm and doors open at 7pm. Seating is limited so plan on arriving early, possibly after dining early at one of the many downtown restaurants.
