Santa Clara County residents will soon be able to watch Board of Supervisor meetings in the comfort of their homes.
The county will kick off live Webcasting of its meetings Tuesday, with the new board president’s State of the County Address.
“Transparent decision-making by elected officials is important in establishing public trust,” said President Ken Yeager, who championed the program. “Webcasting makes board meetings more open and accessible to residents.”
Yeager is expected to focus on strategies to improve the economy, health, wellness and environment of the county in his address, which will follow a standard board meeting.
For now, videos will only be streamed live, but archived versions will be available soon.
The first Webcast will start with the board’s meeting at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, followed by the president’s address at 11:15 a.m.
The public can access the Webcast at www.sccgov.org/boardwebcast, and a calendar of board meetings is available on the county’s Web site, www.sccgov.org, under the heading “Connect With Your Elected Officials.”
