Santa Clara County will be conducting a census to determine the extent of homelessness throughout the county.

At least 300 volunteers are needed to obtain an accurate count of those without housing. Individuals, with the help of a guide who is homeless or has experienced homelessness, will travel around their assigned area and visually count those without housing.

Volunteers will be required to attend a one-hour training session prior to the count day. The survey will be conducted from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. Jan. 29 and Jan. 30 in several Santa Clara communities.

Those interested in volunteering can sign up by contacting Samantha Green at
