The first of four golf tournaments to benefit the CordeValle Youth Golf Foundation was held on Monday at CordeValle in San Martin.
The tournament raised more than $14,000 for the foundation, a newly formed non-profit organization whose mission is to expand access to the sport of golf for children of all income levels by directly support-ing successful youth golf programs throughout Santa Clara County.
The foundation’s next tournament will be held on July 12.
The tournament offered the full field of golfers a chance to play one of the top courses in California. CordeValle’s Head Golf Professional Eric Wasinger announced the winners at an awards ceremony held after the tournament.
The team of John Piedmont, John Karpinski, Paul Karpinski, and Mike Cinelli took first place honors with a final score of 124.
The focus of the CordeValle Youth Golf Foundation is to support existing programs, where children who normally could not afford to play golf will receive instruction, equipment, practice and play opportunities and, most importantly, mentors.
CordeValle’s charity tournament series consists of four tournaments each year.
The entry fee for each tournament this year is $140, which includes a barbeque lunch served before the tournament, and an awards ceremony immediately following with special prizes.
The entire entry fee is donated to the CordeValle Youth Golf Foundation and is tax deductible to tournament participants.
