Morgan Hill – Want to spend a little time in a jail cell, but without the charges? The public is invited to tour the Morgan Hill Police Department Saturday during the Community Law Enforcement Foundation’s Public Safety Day.
Join police officers from 1pm to 5pm at an open house at the MHPD, located at 16200 Vineyard Blvd., in Morgan Hill.
CLEF President David Cohen said the foundation wants to provide the community with an opportunity to get to know its police department better, as well as an educational opportunity.
“We view the open house as a tremendous opportunity for the people of Morgan Hill to get to know their police department and become more familiar with the total picture of public safety in the community,” said Cohen. “We are issuing an open invitation to the entire community to join us in commemorating the dedication and work of the police officers and firefighters who protect Morgan Hill, and we appreciate the support of the police department and the Morgan Hill Police Officers Association.”
Morgan Hill’s CLEF was formed in the early ’80s, but was disbanded several years later. The current Morgan Hill CLEF was re-formed in 2006 to raise money in support of additional tools and training for the MHPD.
Among the foundation’s goals is to raise funds to purchase a police dog for the department as well as other equipment that is beyond the scope of the city budget. The foundation has tax exempt status as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and contributions to the foundation may be exempt from state and federal income taxes. Additional information about the foundation is available on its Web site, www.morganhillclef.org.
