For those less fortunate, the holiday season isn’t always a fun and exciting time of the year.
But thanks to Morgan Hill’s ComUnity Lending some less fortunate families in the area will have a Merry Christmas.
The mortgage company is participating in the Adopt-A-Family Program that raises money and buys gifts for needy families.
“It just felt like the right thing to do,” ComUnity Lending Senior Vice Pres-ident Janene Towner said, adding that her employees thought it would be better to help out people who are in need instead of just exchanging gifts with each other.
“This year we’ve gone all out,” Towner said. “Within the last week we’ve raised $2,115.”
This is the second year the company’s employees have helped out the needy as a group, although there were some individual efforts before, according to Towner. This year they will be helping five different families.
The agencies the mortgage company is working with —Community Solutions and Learning & Loving Educ-ational Center — delivered “Love Baskets,” which contained the gifts, to the needy families on Friday.
Towner said the company plans to participate in the program every holiday season from here on out.
“We all felt as a group that we needed to do something to give back,” Towner said. “This is the beginning of a tradition.”
