Will and Zach Stubbs head out on the six-mile tour along Coyote Creek Trail Saturday morning during the Freedom Fest Bike Classic.

The second annual Morgan Hill Kids BikeFest will be held Sept. 7. The event teaches elementary school-age children and their families to learn about riding bicycles safely and skillfully.
The free and fun-filled event, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Morgan Hill, will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, located at 7000 Monterey St. in Morgan Hill.
Children will need to bring their own bikes and helmets if they have them.
BikeFest, which is anticipated to draw up to 300 local children, will include obstacle course riding and police riding and safety demonstrations. Children will travel to various stations that will teach them about turn signals, balanced riding, simple bike maintenance, fitting a helmet, approaching intersections and much more.
As the children enter the event, they will be given “passports,” and as they complete each of the stations, they will receive a stamp. After completing all seven stations, the passports will be signed by some of the community’s most prominent figures: Mayor Steve Tate, Police Chief David Swing and Brad Ledwith, President of the Rotary Club of Morgan Hill.
With support from Specialized Bicycle Components, a bike manufacturer employing 350 people in Morgan Hill, the Rotary Club organized the event. The Morgan Hill Police Department will play a prominent volunteer role as officers demonstrate on their motorcycles how to ride with control.
