The Morgan Hill Colt Athletics team is on a roll after picking up a pair of wins Saturday to remain perfect.

Morgan Hill will host the Colt Sectional All-Star tournament at Live Oak beginning on July 12. Both the Giants coached by Steve Azevedo and the Athletics coached by Dave Newton will represent Morgan Hill in the tournament.

Last year the Athletics also went undefeated before winning the sectional tournament to move on to the zone tournament.

In the first game of the double header Saturday, the Colts defeated Cambell 8-1 with 12 hits. Bryce Wilson was 2-for-4, Shane Christman was 2-for-3 with a double, Erick Nelson was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Mike Paresa was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Bryan Ross, Jake Bouslog and Jeff Dimas were 1-for-2.

Defensively, Bouslog, at catcher, threw out both Cambell runners attempting to steal second base.

Morgan Hill scored a run in the first and second innings, three in the third and three in the sixth. Paresa pitched five innings and gave up one unearned run. Mike Marquez pitched the last two innings.

Morgan Hill won the second game 19-8. Wilson went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, Andrew Cummins went 2-for-3, Jarod Kwock was 2-for-5 with a double, Bouslog was 2-for-5 with a triple, Paresa went 2-for-4 with a double, Shane Christman was 3-for-5 with a triple, Dimas 3-for-3 with three RBis, Marquez went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. The Athletics scored runs in every inning and had big innings in the third and the seventh.

Dimas pitched three innings and had six strikeouts, Jake Bouslog threw two innings and had three strikeouts and Christman pitched two innings and had a pair of strikeouts.

Although the Athletics are 13-0, not all games this season have been blowouts.

“I think the league is pretty week as it has been the last couple years,” said coach Mike Bouslog. “A lot of kids are playing for the high schools in summer. The true test will be when we play in the tournament. We were perfect last year then fell apart. We probably played our worst two games in the Colt Zone.”

The Athletics have two actual games left in the season against teams that they have handled and one forfeit game against SJ Pacific.
