Meteorologist Dan Gudgel of the NWService in Monterey, said Friday’s showers are not definitive.
“Inland penetration does not seem to be moving too far at this point,” Gudgel said. Several rain systems are developing but, “we won’t see a major rain producer at this time.”
The system is over the ocean now and as it moves to the coast it will weaken, Gudgel said.
In Morgan Hill, nearly 27 inches of rain has fallen since July 2009, the beginning of the rainy season. That represents about 120 percent of normal rainfall.
Santa Clara Country’s 10 reservoirs were at 70.8 percent capacity. South County’s reservoirs stood with Coyote at 62.2 percent full (capacity is 23,244 acre-feet); Anderson at 68 percent full (90,373 acre-feet); Chesbro at 95.8 percent full (7,945 acre-feet); Uvas at 95.4 percent (9,835 acre-feet). To put it in perspective, one acre foot can provide water for a family of five for one year.
The high today is expected near 58 with a low about 45 degrees. Through the weekend highs will maintain near 60 and lows about 44. So far, the forecast predicts a week of cloudy days and a slight chance of rain through Wednesday.
