Morgan Hill’s very own parking garage arachnid is scheduled to arrive at 8 a.m. March 3 and be installed onto its webbed perch high above on the Fourth Street wall of the downtown structure.
The tarantula, designed by artist Gordon Heuther, spans 16 feet in diameter with legs made out of waterjet cut aluminum and a body of headlights that will light up and glow at night.
City staff are inviting community members to stop by throughout Thursday as the new fixture is being securely installed, and snap photographs and post them to social media with the hashtag “#MorganHillsTarantula” attached.
The progress of the parking spider moving into its new home can also be followed on the city’s Facebook page “City of Morgan Hill – Engage” and on its Twitter handle @CityofMorganHill.
