Ovysl tryouts

Tryouts for Orchard Valley Youth Soccer League Class I (Select) and Class III (Competition) teams for the 2003 Fall Season will be held Feb. 8-9 and Feb. 15-16.

Please refer to the age group listings at www.ovysl.org for times and places. It is important for players to attend both tryouts both weekends for coaches to properly evaluate your player(s).

Players must tryout in their appropriate age group. There is no fee required for tryouts, but new player(s) must have a Tryout Release Form signed by a parent before being allowed to tryout. No player will be registered on a Class I or III team if they have not been evaluated by the Class I coach.

If you are unable to attend either of the tryouts or if you have a high school conflict, please contact Jill Riolo (girls) at 776-1423 or Ricardo Martinez (boys) at 776-7745 for an alternate date. Details: call 779-6696 and leave a message.

Pony baseball

Signups for the Morgan Hill Pony Baseball spring session will be held Feb. 4 and Feb. 11 at Mountain Mike’s Pizza from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. You can also register at www.mhpb.org. Details: 408-778-MHPB.

Soccer coaches needed

Anyone interested in volunteering to coach the boys or the girls soccer teams at Britton should call Athletic Director Jim Green 807.7602.

The season begins Feb. 3 and concludes in early April. There will be three to four practices and/or games at week from 3:30- 5 p.m.

Makos swimming

The Makos swim club is expanding three of the team’s programs. The Makos have represented the community of Morgan Hill in USA swimming for more than 37 years. The head coach is Edward Toately, who has thirty years of experience coaching swimming and water polo.

The adult masters program is open to any individual age 19 and up. Swim sessions are held Monday through Friday at the new Live Oak High School pool starting at 5:15 a.m. The cost is $45 per month or $5 per swim. Annual insurance is required.

Children ages 6 to 18 are invited to tryout for the Makos’ age group program. Tryouts are held Monday through Friday at the Live Oak High School pool at 5:15 p.m. The cost ranges from $60 to $85 per month depending upon placement and annual insurance is required. Signups for the 2003 summer session and the learn-to-swim programs will begin in February 2003.

Adult masters water polo scrimmages are held Saturday mornings at the new Live Oak High School pool.

The team also hosts games and travels to compete against other teams. The daily fee is $5 and annual insurance is required. Details: 782-0088 or go to www.morganhillmakos.com

12u travelling team

The Gilroy12U girls fast pitch traveling team is holding tryouts on Feb. 2 and Feb. 9. Pitchers/catchers: 10 a.m. and all other positions: 11a.m. at Christmas Hill Ranch Field. Details: Lino De La Cruz 842-6828.

Free supervised workouts

Get ready for the upcoming baseball season with free workouts with coach Ralph Villafuerte and the Morgan Hill Coaches Group running every Sunday through Feb. 9 starting at 10 a.m. and running through noon.

Boys and girls 10 years old and up are welcome to attend. Guest coaches are Brandon Villafuerte (Padres), Adam Montarbo (Padres A team), Benji Dequin (Expos A team) as well as Live Oak varsity and junior varsity players.

Silicon Valley Classic
