I enjoy living in Morgan Hill and I willingly pay the high property taxes on my small lot. I have never been to a city council meeting, but I do know two of the members. I think that members of our city council serve with minimal financial compensation for their time and I admire them for their service.

In my 12 years living in Morgan Hill I have trusted these volunteer council members to oversee our fiscal policies and, to date, I have seen no reason to complain. Unfortunately a recent article regarding Jerry Galvin’s lucrative retirement package after a scant two years of service has me very angry!

This guy has been on the payroll as our police chief for a meager two years and now he will walk away with 90 percent of his pay for the remainder of his life; how blatantly unjust. I will be very disappointed if I find that the city council knowingly approved this contract.
