Nothing says community in Morgan Hill like the Friday Night Music series. This 11-week series brings live music, culture and family fun to downtown Morgan Hill. Beginning Friday morning June 13, the Chamber staff and volunteers will set up the lights, booths and parking, readying the Community Center for 1,500-2,000 attendees to enjoy an evening together.

Although there are new performers and new music genres each week, the event timeline is the same. The event opens at 5:30pm, with beer and wine sales, vendors and recorded music. The first band opens at 6:15pm. The cultural performance is from 7:05-7:20pm when the dance floor is cleared for the performers and the main act begins at 7:30pm, playing until 9:30pm.
This Friday the series kicks off with all new acts! Opening is the Rockafellas, a dance band from San Jose. The first cultural performance is a dance group, Xpressions, led by Mosaic America Fellow and Artistic Director, Srividya Eashwar. They will be presenting a medley of dances to share the vibrant and colorful culture of India.
Srividya will lead the audience in a special dance-along to end their presentation.
“Investing in cultural events is a powerful tool for promoting local cohesion and generating social value,” board member Poonam Chabra said.
Our first headlining act of the season is Patrón, a band consisting of nine musicians/friends, including three horns, who play a diverse range of Latin music such as Latin Jazz, Latin Rock, Mambo and even O’l Skool R& B/Latin Funk!
The music genres change from week to week. June 20 will be an up-and-coming Americana group The Alex Lucero Band; and on Aug. 1 the country western band, San Benito County Line, performs. Journey cover band Faithfully Live performs July 18 and because the Fourth of July is a Friday that week’s performance will be moved to Saturday, July 5, when Morgan Hill favorites The Houserockers return!
“Enjoy shopping, eating and learning about some of our chamber members at the 25-plus member booths and food trucks,” said Lori Allen, Director of Programs and Member Services. “We are excited to welcome back our longtime favorites and are happy to announce that there will be many more new shopping and eating opportunities through some of our newest chamber members.”
Frosty cold beer and local wine are sold by the Morgan Hill Chamber. Outside alcohol is not permitted at the event. Sneaking in alcohol endangers the chamber’s permits—and purchasing from the chamber helps pay for the event.
“Music is powerful,” said Brooke Jakovcevic, Director of Sales & Events. “It brings people together from all walks of life that may never gather otherwise.”
The Morgan Hill Chamber will be offering a VIP area with reserved seating for more information contact Br****@***************er.org. The Chamber invites everyone in the community to come out and enjoy this fun, free event with their friends and neighbors.
