“Geezil” Francis Filice, 85, of Gilroy, died March 2, 2005, at
his home under the loving care of Gloria, his wife of 63 years. Mr.
Filice was born Oct. 7, 1919, in San Francisco.
Carmen “Geezil” Francis Filice, 85, of Gilroy, died March 2, 2005, at his home under the loving care of Gloria, his wife of 63 years.

Mr. Filice was born Oct. 7, 1919, in San Francisco.

While serving in the Army during World War II, he married Gloria Bozzo and after his discharge started his 27-year stint at the Gilroy Dispatch working his way up to general manager and sports columnist.

In 1967 he and his son-in-law Everett Littlejohn, began their partnership at Gilroy Printers and Office Supplies, retiring in 1994. He was very active at St. Mary Parish, Sierra Club and Elks Lodge serving as Exalted Ruler in 1976. He was instrumental in the first city of Gilroy Parks and Recreation Commission, helping to develop Christmas Hill Park as the prototype for future city parks.

Aside from his wife, he survived by his children Patti Littlejohn and her husband Everett of Gilroy, John Filice and his wife Kim of Gilroy, and Toni Rinde and her husband Knute of Hollister; grandchildren Kristann and Mark Mangano, Michelyn and Frank Delgado, Tiffany and Richard Helmly and Wendy and Tony Solorio; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gabriel and Almeda Filice, his brother Stanley Filice, and great-grandson Ryan Mangano.

Funeral Mass was Friday, March 4, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial was at St. Mary Cemetery under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home
