Pirate-themed fundraiser for Sobrato girls basketball
– Morgan’s Cove will host a pirate-themed fundraiser for the Sobrato High School Girls Basketball Team May 22. It will include a pre-party where guests are encouraged to come in pirate attire, a viewing of the new Johnny Depp movie “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” at CineLux, and a dinner. Tickets are $20 (including the movie) or $12 for just the after-party, and are available at the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce, Huntington Station, Rosy’s at the Beach, BookSmart, TFL or at 316-2403.

Teen Tag Session
– Teens can come in to paint, brighten up, and personalize their surroundings. Join in the fun at the Centennial Recreation Center, Teen Center at 171 W. Edmundson Ave. from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Youths 12 to 18 years old are welcome to the free event.

Ladies of Charity Fashion Show
– This second annual fashion show is sponsored by Ladies of Charity of Morgan Hill. Raising funds acting together against poverty.
The show starts at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Community and Cultural Center, Hiram Morgan Hill Room, 17000 Monterey Road. The Ladies of Charity suggest a donation of $15.

Leave your mark
– On Thursday celebrate National Doodle Day and BookSmart invites the public to “leave your mark” on a giant poster in the store from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. They will provide the markers, pencils, and crayons. Every doodler gets a free ice cream cone! BookSmart is located at 80 E. Second St.
Walk for Life at Gavilan College
– The Physician’s Assistant Club in collaboration with several clubs on campus has organized the first Walk for Life event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Gavilan College, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. Local vendors will be present. From the proceeds a donation will be made to the American Red Cross.

Girls Scouts camp at Gilroy Gardens
– Girl Scouts can camp at Gilroy Gardens Friday and Saturday, or May 20 and 21 while learning about the park’s irrigation and water system. Registration begins at 4 p.m. and there is a full schedule of fun and educational events planned.

Have coffee with the mayor, Monning
– Morgan Hill Mayor Steve Tate will be joined by Assemblyman Bill Monning, at his next coffee with the mayor event at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hot Java, corner of Second Street and Monterey Road in downtown. Ask either or both questions, give suggestions or opinions – whatever, it will be a wide open session directed by those who attend, Tate said.
Fly on wings of history
– The Wings of History Air Museum and San Martin Airport Open House and Fly-in takes place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the South County Airport in San Martin, 12777 Murphy Ave.
There will be free airplane and helicopter rides for those 8 to 17, free tethered balloon rides from beginning at 7 a.m., weather permitting and food available all day starting with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m.

Meet rehabilitated WERC wildlife
– Meet the furry, feathered and scaled friends the Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center has helped, during a free event from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Old Machado School, 15130 Sycamore Ave. There will be games and fun activities for the kids, and cake and punch will be served. Donations are accepted.

Sierra Club hike at Uvas Canyon Park
– The Sierra Club will hold a hike Sunday at Uvas Canyon County Park. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Home Depot parking lot off East Dunne in Morgan Hill or at 10 a.m. at the lower parking lot at Uvas Canyon. There is a $6 to $10 entrance fee to the park. You do not need to be a member to attend the hike. It is a moderate hike at an easy pace.
