Safe Haven Project Benefit Dance Recital

A dance project, in conjunction with the Morgan Hill Dance Center and South Valley Ballet, presents a benefit dance performance, 6:30pm at the Ann Sobrato High School theater, 401 Burnett Ave. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Proceeds benefit the Safe Haven Project, a non-profit orgnization that works with children with AIDS.

Bob Cat Release

The Wildlife and Rehabilitation Center is asking for the public’s assistance in the release of “Gabby” the bobcat back into the wild after six months of rehabilitation. The location where he was rescued is not suitable for a release site. If you own a large remote piece of property in the southern Gilroy area with trees, creeks and rodents, W.E.R.C. would like to hear from you.

Young Artist Exhibit

Local young artists, ages 5-17, display 130 pieces of artwork at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road through June 8. Included are the winners of the Independence Day, Inc. non-profit organization poster contest and the city’s environmental poster design contest.

South Valley Civic Theater Performances

The South Valley Civic Theater presents two plays by Neil Simon. “California Suite,” 8pm on May 18, 26 and June 2, and 2pm, May 26. “Plaza Suite,” 8pm May 18, 26 and June 1 and at 2pm, May 26. Relay For Life

Individuals and teams take turns walking the track relay-style at the American Cancer Society’s overnight “Relay For Life,” 10am today through 10am Sunday at Oakwood School, 150 John Wilson Way. Raise funds to fight cancer, honor cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.

City Beautification Day

Projects ranging from tree planting, hedge trimming and litter pickup are scheduled, 8am-noon. Volunteers meet at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road. After the work is done, get a free t-shirt and enjoy a free barbeque lunch.

Wings of History

Open House and Fly-In

The annual Open House and Fly-In is hosted by the Wings of History Museum, 7am-4pm at the Wings of History Museum, 12777 Murphy Ave., San Martin and at the South County Airport located across from the museum. Hot air balloons, free airplane rides for children through the Young Eagles program, aircraft displays and much more. Pancake breakfast at 8am, tri-tip sandwiches and hot dogs, 11am-2pm. Free admission, but contributions for the museum are welcome.

Great American Litter Pick Up
