Byron Royer died April 16, 2005, at St. Louise Hospital in
Gilroy. He was 85.
Byron Royer died April 16, 2005, at St. Louise Hospital in Gilroy. He was 85.
He was born in Dark County, Ohio and grew up in Bradford, Ohio. Mr. Royer worked in Dayton until joining the U. S. Army/Air Force to fight in World War II. He was in the 8th and 9th Air Force and spent four years in Europe.
After the war, he married his sweetheart, Noreene, whom he had met while stationed in England. They relocated to Washington, D.C., where their children, Roger and Darcy, were born. Mr. Royer spent his career with Burroughs Corp. and retired in 1985 after which the couple moved to Gilroy.
He loved to listen to good music, take care of his roses, play with his pets and be a super grandpa.
He is survived by his loving wife, Noreene, his bride of 59 years; son Roger and his wife Randy of Grand Rapids, Mich.; daughter Darcy and her husband Chuck of Morgan Hill; grandson Clay and his wife Sherrie; granddaughters Devon and Kendal; great-granddaughter Alexis; sister Ruth; sister-in-law Helen; nephew Phil and wife Patty and family; and many relatives in England, Canada and Australia.
He was truly a gentle soul and will be greatly missed by his family and many dear friends.
A private memorial is being planned.
