Cajun food coming soon to Morgan Hill

“Red Phone, does the city of Morgan Hill have any plans to replace the ugly deteriorating orange reflective barriers located at Butterfield and Jarvis Rd intersections with something more permanent to make the turning lanes more safe? Right now the intersections are an ‘eye sore’ to the community.”

Red Phone: Dear Eye Sore, Red Phone contacted Scott C. Creer, senior civil engineer, who said the barriers were installed at the two intersections on Butterfield Boulevard (Jarvis Drive north and south) as a temporary measure to restrict turning movements at these intersections for safety reasons.

“Developments adjacent to these two intersections are responsible to construct the permanent improvements that will eliminate the need for the temporary barriers,” Creer said. “The plans for the permanent improvements have been reviewed and approved by the city and will be installed once building activity within these two developments resumes.

“Regarding concerns that they are unsightly, we will have our maintenance crew reviews and replace any barriers that have been knocked down or damaged on a monthly basis.”

There you have it, good caller. The orange reflective barriers should at the very least look a little better until development occurs there.

New wine bar coming to downtown

“Dear Red Phone, the other day I noticed work being done on the building on Monterey Road just north of Dunne Avenue where The Reserve was once located. Can you tell me what’s going on there? Thanks.”

Red Phone: Dear Wondering, are you in for a treat. Red Phone contacted Rich and Rosy Bergin, the owners of Rosy’s at the Beach. Rosy said they are opening Bubbles Wine Bar.

“Bubbles will offer a charming spot to enjoy wine, champagne, appetizers, desserts and coffees,” she said. “In an effort to enhance the downtown experience, Bubbles will be a place to go before or after downtown dining, shopping, theater or work.”

The couple plans to open in June with reasonably priced wines, a delicious light menu and great service, she added. Artisan cheeses and local farm specialties will be featured on the menu.

There you have it, good caller. Come June, another place to go downtown will open.
