Baskin-Robbins Stores Raise Funds for Firefighters Foundation

Baskin-Robbins, 315 Vineyard Town Center, in Morgan Hill, and its two sister locations in Gilroy on Travel Park Circle and Camino Arroyo, is kicking off summer early with a special 31 Cent Scoop Night celebration 5-10pm May 2. During the event, ice cream lovers will enjoy their favorite ice cream flavor for only 31 cents while paying tribute to local heroes.

Baskin-Robbins is partnering with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF), an organization that honors America’s fallen fire heroes and their families. The company will also donate $100,000 to the organization. The money will be used to support the organization’s programs including, “Everyone Goes Home,” a program that helps to prevent fire fighting line-of-duty deaths and injuries.

“This event gives us a wonderful opportunity to show our loyal customers our appreciation,” said Jasmer Mann, Baskin-Robbins franchisee in Gilroy.

In addition to the corporate donation to NFFF, certain Baskin-Robbins stores will also help raise additional funds for their local firehouses by inviting fire departments to the event to collect donations.

Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, creates and markets innovative, high-quality ice cream, specialty frozen desserts and beverages in more than 5,600 retail shops around the globe.

Baskin-Robbins was founded by two ice cream enthusiasts whose passion led to the creation of more than 1,000 ice cream flavors and a wide variety of delicious treats. Headquartered in Canton, Mass., Baskin-Robbins is part of the Dunkin’ Brands, Inc. family of companies.

Golf Balls for the Troops in Iraq

Hollister’s Ridgemark Golf & Country Club members and staff and Ridgemark Estates residents are hoping to supply 50,000 golf balls to U.S. troops in Iraq.

According club general manager Eric Dietz, American soldiers have been hitting golf balls as a recreation and stress release exercise. They typically can only hit the balls once as they are launching them into areas that are mine fields or areas inhabited by enemy snipers.

Through Acushnet Company (Titleist and Footjoy) resources, bulk packaging of the golf balls will be free. The club, however, is looking for ways to ship them to Iraq. The balls are being collected in the Golf Shop at the club, 3800 Airline Highway, Hollister.

The club hopes to send 174 packages of golf balls to Iraq via Army Post Office. Each box will contain 288 balls. Each donor can send a personalized thank-you card to the troops with the packages.

Dietz is looking for 174 supporters to offset the cost of shipping. The cost to mail each box is $35.

Those interested can write a check to RG&CC, Inc. and mail or drop it off to Eric Dietz, PGA RG & CC, Inc., 3800 Airline Hwy, Hollister, CA 95023. The club will accept monetary and golf ball donations until July 4.
