For the past several years parents have sat and slept overnight in the district’s school parking lots to register their child for kindergarten. Nordstrom Elementary School, one of the highest achieving schools, is severely impacted and last year was the most popular school to camp in front of to secure a space.

VTA announces new board leadership
San Jose – Mountain View City Councilwoman Margaret Abe-Koga is the new Valley Transportation Authority board chair after serving last year as vice chair. Ken Yeager, a Santa Clara County Board supervisor who has served on the VTA board since 2007, was appointed vice chair.
Since 2007, Abe-Koga has served on the VTA Policy Advisory Committee, and was the chairwoman in 2009 and vice chairwoman in 2008. In 2010, she worked with the Ad-Hoc Financial Stability Committee comprised of local officials, business and community leaders, labor and other stakeholders to address long-term budget issues.
The board meets the first Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at the County Government Center, 70 West Hedding St.
