“Dear Red Phone, I thought this year’s 4th of July parade was excellent and we had a great time! I do have a question about one of the entries. There was a group promoting ‘Bricks for the Future.’ As a longtime resident, this is a great opportunity to have our family name on a brick. Can you provide some background on this project and explain where this exhibit will be and what organization the proceeds are funding?”
Red Phone: Dear Wants a Brick, you bet. Bricks for the Future is a project started by the Leadership Morgan Hill Class of 2011 aimed at raising funds for local youth programs in the community. Donations are being accepted through July. The bricks will be used to create a monument at the Community and Cultural Center, and each brick can be personalized with your family’s name, the name of a business or in the name of someone you’d like to honor or memorialize. This structure will be a prominent feature in the heart of Morgan Hill where future generations will be able to visit your personalized brick for years to come.
The window of opportunity to be a part is very small and the number of bricks is limited. All profits from the tax-deductible contribution will go to youth programs with an emphasis toward those in the community that are underserved. Organizations such as the El Toro Youth Center, programs affiliated with the Morgan Hill Youth Sports Alliance, and local Scout Troops.
Bricks can be purchased by visiting www.bricksforourfuture.com.
Hope that answers your question, good caller.
Graffiti will be cleaned soon
“Hey Red Phone, I drove past the graffiti on Butterfield (Boulevard) and Main Avenue. The writing is pretty large and distracting at the intersection. When will it be cleaned up? The actual graffiti says ‘Morgan Hill can’t afford electric bill what?'”
Red Phone: Dear, What? No, the city can afford the PG&E bill. Red Phone contacted Anthony Eulo, program administrator with the city of Morgan Hill, who said “the graffiti has been reported and will be addressed ASAP.”
Hope that helps, good caller.
