Sobrato and Live Oak faired well last week in the John Schmitt Memorial Tournament, a highly competitive early season event featuring some of the top boys water polo teams in Northern California.

The Bulldogs finished 2-3 with wins over Lynbrook, 12-11, and Fairfield, 5-1. Sobrato battled in a 13-7 loss to Valley Christian as well.

The Acorns won only once in four games but lost by close margins to St. Ignatius, 13-10, Mountain View, 18-10, and Santa Cruz, 12-11.

Saul Orona led the Acorns with 12 goals in the final four games, including four in a 6-5 victory over Fairfield. The senior also collected nine against Mountain View.

David Molyneux and Connor Haines scored four and three goals against Santa Cruz, and Nathaniel Batey had a hat trick against St. Ignatius, also for LOHS.
