Live Oak High’s boys tennis team opened the season with a 4-3 win over Prospect on Tuesday and a 5-2 victory over Independence on Thursday.

Acorns senior No. 1 singles player Bryan Freitas clinched the win over Prospect with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 win spanning about 2 hours, 45 minutes. Live Oak sophomore No. 2 singles player Milan Leruyet and freshman No. 3 singles player Andrew Liu won in straight sets, and junior No. 4 singles player Tanner Hallinan won a three-setter.

Against Independence, Live Oak’s top three singles players won their matches in straight sets, and Hallinan won a three-setter. Live Oak senior Dane Cleeton and sophomore Mike Renteria claimed a two-set victory at No. 1 doubles.
