SAN JOSE — A scoreless tie with Pioneer did little harm to the Live Oak boys soccer team.

The Acorns ran their unbeaten streak to 11 games Tuesday in San Jose while keeping a firm grip on the top spot in the West Valley Division. A loss wouldn’t have hurt either. Live Oak owns a tie-breaker over Silver Creek, having beaten the second-place Raiders 2-0 Jan. 23.

Live Oak (5-2-7 overall, 5-0-3 league), which controls its own destiny toward a first Central Coast Section playoff berth in three years, has six matches left, starting Thursday at San Jose. The Acorns won the previous meeting 5-0.

Pioneer moved to 2-3-8 and 1-2-4.

The Bulldogs put up a good fight Tuesday against the reigning CCS Division III champions.

The visiting Panthers (10-4-1, 7-1-1), first place in the Santa Teresa Division, triumphed with a late goal to earn their third straight victory.

Sobrato (4-4-5, 3-3-2) will try for its first road win of the season Thursday at Leland.
