Standout athlete Juliette Bowers will be taking her considerable skills back east next fall.

Bowers, a senior volleyball and softball player at Live Oak, signed a letter of intent to play softball at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY on Nov. 15.

Bowers said she made her decision after visiting the college in upstate New York in early November. “It’s a really nice environment and that’s what college is all about,” she said.

Canisius offered a full scholarship, part athletic and part academic. Bowers, who has a 4.1 GPA, said Canisius contacted her after seeing a tape of her playing softball made by one of her coaches.

Bowers said she’ll start off playing only softball but will try to convince her coaches to let her play volleyball, too.
