Bonnie (Yvonne) Leonetti, a longtime San Martin resident, died Monday, March 29. She was 77.
Bonnie was born and raised in the Willow Glen area of San Jose. She graduated from Lincoln High School and attended San Jose State where she belonged to Phi Rho Gamma Sorority. She graduated from Heald’s Business College. She was employed as a secretary at Food Machinery Corp. and as secretary to the athletic director at Santa Clara University.
She moved to the Morgan Hill area after marrying Al Leonetti in 1950. She helped him grow the family retail businesses while raising their daughters. She also was active in many local and civic organizations. She would say the highlights were her membership and term as president of the Alice in Wonderland Chapter of Children’s Home Society, and two terms on the Morgan Hill Unified School District Board of Trustees where she served as president for one term. Bonnie enjoyed playing golf with Riverside and Ridgemark Ladies Golf Clubs, and was proud of her two holes-in-one.
We will miss her with all of our hearts, family members said.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Alfred Leonetti of San Martin; daughters Leslie Leonetti (Jock McCoy) of Los Gatos; Lisa Leonetti and family of Morgan Hill; and Laurie Leonetti of Seattle; dear grandchildren Elena Guevara, Laurel Leonetti and Andy Leonetti; sister Elayne Freitas; and brother Leon “Butch” Cancilla.
She was preceded in death by her parents A.E. “Gene” and Dolly Cancilla and her sister Jeanne Seeberger.
Visitation is Sunday, April 1, 1–3:30 p.m., at Johnson Funeral Home.
Services take place at 10 a.m. Monday, April 5, at St. Catherine’s Church. Interment will be private.
The family suggests that any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Northern California Chapter, 2065 W. El Camino Real, Suite C, Mt. View, CA 94040-2217.
