The Santa Clara County Coroner is working to identify the body of a man found behind Arteaga’s Super Save on Chestnut Street.

Police believe the man was homeless and estimated he was about 40 years old.

At 5:51 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a call reporting a body behind the food market. Paramedics found the man leaning against a wall and pronounced him dead upon their arrival, said Sgt. Chad Gallacinao.

“There does not appear to be foul play,” Gallacinao said. “The deceased was a homeless individual who suffered from several illnesses.”

The man’s death was likely triggered by natural causes but the coroner’s office will conduct an investigation and make a final determination, Gallacinao said.
