Dear Editor,

In reading Lisa Pampuch, I am afraid she is one of those individuals who feels “big brother” has to take care of all our needs and emergencies.

The mayor of New Orleans was fully aware of the dangers to his city regarding a flooding disaster, as was the governor of Louisiana. Neither of these government officials implemented any plan. It was up to the governor to order the placement of Louisiana National Guard troops.  It was up to the mayor to order the use of public transportation buses and school buses to evacuate those citizens who were vulnerable and without means. According to the media reports, there were 500 public transportation buses available that were not used. Her blaming the federal government is shorsighted.
