Live Oak finished its season on a positive note by posting two Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division wins last week over Oak Grove.

The Acorns prevailed 225-239 on April 23 at Coyote Creek Golf Course. David Cannon led Live Oak with a score of 39, missing overall medalist by one stroke. Others contributing to the win were Tim Dronek, Kevin Kjellsen, Zack Colton and Matt Morgan.

According to coach Tony Goble, “The team knew it would not finish as one of the top three teams for entry into the season finals. However, if they kept their focus and played consistently, they would likely win their last two matches.”

On Thursday, a rematch at Silver Creek Golf Course resulted in another Acorn victory, 249-257 by Oak Grove. Cannon again led Live Oak and was overall medalist. Others contributing to the win were Kevin Mom, Dronek, Morgan and Colton.

The Acorns end their season at 7-9. In the Mt. Hamilton Division, the top three teams enter the finals to determine entry into the Central Coast Section Championships. The remaining teams send their top two players to compete. Mom and Cannon will represent Live Oak. Additionally, each coach submits players who have met the specified average season score for selection by the league to compete in an at-large position.

Kjellsen was chosen but will be unavailable to compete. Dronek, another qualifier, earns the third spot at the finals for the Acorns. The finals are today at Cinnabar Golf Course in San Jose.
