Baseball: Barron leads long list of all-conference honors for Rams

Erik Barron’s impact on Gavilan College’s baseball program this season was apparent from the start.

The freshman right-hander was rewarded for his breakout year when he was recently named Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year.

Barron was 6-4 with a 3.09 ERA, one save and 68 strikeouts in 84 1/3 innings this season. The Mt. Pleasant High product led the state with four complete games, according to the California Community College Athletic Association website.

Barron led a long list of postseason honors for the Rams, who finished 18-18 overall and 11-13 in conference.

Gavilan freshman right-hander Gabe Katich, sophomore designated hitter Connor Sutton (Live Oak) and freshman center fielder Bryant Cid (Christopher) received first-team all-conference honors.

Rams freshman left fielder Brandt Burns, freshman right fielder Danny Gutierrez and freshman second baseman Adam Kocina earned second-team honors.

Gavilan sophomore first baseman Kenny Hall (Live Oak) and freshman utility player Alika Bantilan (Live Oak) received Honorable Mention recognition.
