Three local girls were eliminated after two rounds of play at the Central Coast Section badminton tournament Wednesday as Live Oak senior Ada Tan lost to Jessica Dinh of host Monta Vista, and Sobrato senior Caitlin Colladay and junior Harsimran Gill lost by forfeit in doubles play.
Colladay and Gill lost 5-15, 5-15 Tuesday to Kristina Wang and Sophie Robinson of Crystal Springs and were unavailable to continue in the losers bracket.
The Sobrato tandem was coming off winning a second straight title in the West Valley Division Finals held May 16-18 at Live Oak High School.
Tan, who won the singles division crown, lost 3-15, 14-16 Tuesday to Carlmont’s Rachel Lin in the first round of sectionals.
Live Oak’s other notable finishers this spring were Naromi Ramirez and Jim Yang, who took second at league finals in mixed doubles; and Josue Daniel Camargo, who was runner-up in boys singles. Teammates Cassandra Bingham and Alexandra Muniz placed fourth in girls doubles.
Also at league finals, Sobrato senior Roatanak Mov and Anthony Langga finished third and fourth, respectively, in boys singles.
