The voices of many of history’s most famous composers can be
heard beginning July 17 when The Carmel Bach Festival launches its
67th season under the direction of world-renowned conductor Bruno
Weil.
The voices of many of history’s most famous composers can be heard beginning July 17 when The Carmel Bach Festival launches its 67th season under the direction of world-renowned conductor Bruno Weil. Founded in and held continuously since 1935, the Carmel Bach Festival celebrates the music of Johann Sebastian Bach as well as his contemporaries and musical heirs. There will be several complimentary events, including lectures, family concerts, tower music outdoors before major concerts, outreach activities as well as a Baroque vocal master class.

On opening night, audience members will enjoy the sounds of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cantata 43, Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 in B Major and Cantata 63. This performance will run consecutive Saturdays during the length of the three-week festival.

The Carmel Bach Festival also features an Intermezzo Recital Series, the Twilight Series, the Candlelight Series, as well as the Family Concerts. The series play at All Saint’s Church, Carmel Mission Basilica, and Church in the Forest , Pebble Beach, as well the refurbished Sunset Theater.

For the first time ever, this year the Carmel Bach Festival will introduce a Foyer Concert Series at the Sunset Theater Foyer on July 20, 27 and Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. The series will feature lute or theorbo with vocal and/or instrumental groups.
