Calling library babies and their Mothers
– Is wintertime “cabin fever” starting to set in? Does getting
out and learning bouncy new songs and action rhymes sound like fun?
And getting to meet other wonderful moms and babies?
Calling library babies and their Mothers – Is wintertime “cabin fever” starting to set in? Does getting out and learning bouncy new songs and action rhymes sound like fun? And getting to meet other wonderful moms and babies?
Then be among the first to sign up for a Morgan Hill Library February premiere – Baby Storytime.
Noted children’s author Rosemary Wells writes that “Trusting, singing, laughing, and language are the most important things in a young child’s life. After a child turns two years old, these things are very difficult to learn or teach ever again.”
It would be our privilege at the library to assist you as a new parent with these early childhood essentials. We can also share our vast array of board books, musical audiotapes and CDs (including lullabies & fingerplays!), and parenting books. The latter includes Dr. Harvey Karp’s “The Happiest Baby on the Block,” featured on “Good Morning America” and “Dr. Phil.”
Dr. Karp is noted for his “5 Techniques to Calm a Crying Baby,” a printout of which will be included in a special “gift bag” (funded by the Friends of the Morgan Hill Library) – yours at the first 10:30 a.m. storytime session on Feb. 6.
Have we convinced you to sign up? We hope so. Register in person at the Library or by phone (779-3198) anytime in January. Baby Storytime happens Friday mornings in February at 10:30 a.m. and will last 20-25 minutes. We invite you to stay after and visit with other moms and babies – and to use your library card. Baby Storytimes are for non-walkers only, please, and please bring a baby blanket. Toddler and Preschool storytimes take place Thursday mornings at 10:05 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. respectively, year round.
Rosemary Wells continues, “Reading to your little one …. will pay you back tenfold. Your daughter will learn, and imagine, and be strong in herself. Your son will thrive, and give your love back forever.” Need we say more?
