The call is out for talented kids, 5 to 21, to audition for “The Great American Talent Shows” opening at the Morgan Hill Playhouse in two performances on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20.

John Bisceglie, who produces musicals and plays with children in most roles in Gilroy, is behind the event sponsored as a joint project by the City of Morgan Hill and Gilroy Community Services Department. Bisceglie wants to hear from young musicians, actors, jugglers, dancers, comedians in singles or groups. He’ll even consider animal acts.

Two auditions are scheduled for the convenience of Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy parents and children with jam-packed calendars: Sunday, June 6, 4 p.m. at the Playhouse, 17000 Monterey Road at East Fifth Street, and Saturday, June 12, 6 p.m. in the Gilroy Senior Center meeting room, 651 West 6th St.

Bisceglie said he wants lots of kids to try out and will take as many as will fit into two programs, about 25 acts each.

“We have the mikes,” Bisceglie said, “just bring your instruments, CD – or dog – and we’ll have fun at the audition.”

The auditions, he stresses, will be low-keyed – not a competition. An emcee will introduce the acts at the June 20 performances.

Registration for each act is $85, which includes four show tickets (worth $10 each) and a talent show T-shirt.

Performances on Father’s Day, for younger children, will start at 2 p.m., with a second performance for older children at 7:30 p.m.
