The Bronco Division Athletics opened the season with a 23-8 win over the Tigers.
The game was close through the first three innings, with Tigers’ pitcher Jackson Gion and A’s hurler Westyn Hersovitch keeping both offenses in check.
Hersovitch kept the Tigers scoreless through three innings and recorded five strikeouts during that stretch, while the A’s put two runs on the board in the first, highlighted by a Nelson Pyle triple.
The Tigers took their only lead of the game with three runs in the fourth, scoring on singles from Wes Guild and Nick Blocker and getting a double from Mitch Crowley to go along with three walks.
That lead didn’t last long, as the A’s sent 16 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth and scored 11 runs to take control at 13-3.
The Tigers closed the gap a bit with five in the top of the fifth, but the A’s scored eight more in the bottom of the inning to put the game away.
