Are you concerned that the 2010 Census process is
politicized?
THIS WEEK’S QUESTION:

“Are you concerned that the 2010 Census process is politicized?” Yes: 4 No: 8

? Karen Anderson: “Yes. Though sampling will not be allowed, it could have been used to estimate the poor, frequently undercounted and favoring Democrats. A lot is at stake for both parties: number of representatives in the House, allocations for the poor, etc.”

? Dave Appling: “About the Census Bureau’s process per se, no. About the outrageous attempts of others to game the system, yes indeed. What part of the Constitution’s ‘the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed’ don’t these people understand?” n Bert Berson: “Yes. In the United States everything has now been made political.”

? Chris Bryant: “No, other than a few very silly and ill thought TV ads, I’ve seen very little discussion or reports from any news source.”

? David Cohen: “No. The census is mandated in the constitution. Those politicizing are afraid of the results which will show the increasing diversification of our country’s population.”

? Julian Mancias: “No. Although I probably should be.”

? Linda McNulty: “Yes, to have the former head of a Democratic Congressional Committee exert control over the Census bureau, that provides data used in redistricting, it will be perceived as a partisan process. Even if it’s done for the best of intentions, the timing is bad.”

? Henry Miller: “No. I don’t expect there to be any more political tomfoolery than the usual bit of gerrymandering that goes on even in non-census years.”

? Lisa Pampuch: “No. I look forward to receiving our family’s census form and responding. I hope that everyone does, so that “one man, one vote” legislative districts can be drawn for every American, and so that resources can be fairly distributed.

? Emily Shem-Tov: “No, the census has been politically charged from its beginnings and – with so much at stake – people from the left and the right will be keeping a close eye on the process.”

? Jeff Smith: “Yes. With Obama’s history of “community organizing” with the likes of ACORN and other corrupt groups we should all be very concerned. Obama and his cronies definitely have an agenda and will use any opportunity to ‘transform’ America into their socialist vision.”

? Steve Staloch: “Yes, but it always has been to some degree. However, the 2010 count includes variables that will likely skew accuracy more so than in the past: illegal immigrants who won’t respond to questions due to an increased threat of deportation and displaced and transient families due to loss of job and home foreclosure.
