Are you concerned about President Barack Obama’s vetting process
for cabinet members?
THIS WEEK’S QUESTION:
“Are you concerned about President Barack Obama’s vetting process for cabinet members?” Yes: 5 No: 6
? Karen Anderson: “To some degree, as he has had some strikeouts. Makes the Dems look bad after criticizing McCain over Palin.”
? Bert Berson: “You bet. He is not looking good and the wolves smell an opening.”
? Chris Bryant: “No. This seems to be a re-occurring theme with every president having trouble finding people that pass the vetting process but fail to be confirmed. It just points out the more basic problem of people in positions of power thinking they can get away with breaking laws without regard to future consequences.”
? David Cohen: “Not really. Like the president said himself, ‘I screwed up.’ I think the lesson has been learned and it is refreshing to hear those words from the leader of the free world.”
? Dennis Kennedy: Yes! He needs to improve the process.”
? Julian Mancias: “No. Everyone is trying real hard to put the new cabinet in place as quickly as possible in order to meet the challenges that the new administration is facing.”
? Hank Miller: “Not at all. In fact, I found it somewhat refreshing that, after 16 years of denial, we finally have a president who can say, ‘I screwed up.’
? Lisa Pampuch: “No. It’s unreasonable to expect no hiccups when vetting hundreds of candidates in a few short weeks. I am concerned, however, that instead of focusing on who will best do these important jobs, we’re focusing on whether or not candidates have perfect records.”
? John Quick: “Yes. I feel that the crisis left for him by the 8 year Bush disaster has created a sense of urgency that may have short circuited the vetting process. I hope there are no more ‘surprises.’ I want to see Obama’s credibility remain high so our society can make up for the progress which was stifled by Bush and his cronies.”
? Emily Shem-Tov: “No, but it is disappointing that there have been so many problems with key appointments already. Back in November the media was questioning whether the transition team was too cautious and invasive with their vetting, but they promised very high standards and now have to try to live by them.”
? Steve Staloch: “Yes, and disappointed. It demonstrates a Bush-league attitude of ‘do as I say, not as I do’ that has permeated Washington for far too long. Furthermore, his ‘I screwed up’ comment came only after public pressure forced him to recant his ‘full support’ statement of the day before.”
