Dear Red Phone, “Do you know why Arby’s of Gilroy closed? Any plans to reopen at another location in Gilroy?”
Red Phone: Dear Arby’s fan, where’s the beef? It’s gone, but we don’t know why Arby’s would leave the Garlic/Fast Food Capital of the World. Panda Express, Wing Stop, Togo’s, Jack in the Box, Sonic, Subway, etc., etc. are all within spittin’ distance, so we hope Gilroyans and travelers can find another worthy feast.
If Red Phone gets a call on the Return of Arby’s II we’ll pass the news along.
Dear Red Phone, “Has anyone noticed the American flag at McDonalds on first street? The flag is shredded, torn and a disgrace. Maybe you could ask McDonalds why they are flying it like that or maybe they do not care?
Red Phone: Dear Reader, the Dispatch got in touch with McDonald’s owner Steve Peat, who explained that the flag on First Street was tattered and has now been replaced. There has also been an issue with the flag at the McDonald’s location on 10th Street, which Peat owns too. The cord on that flag is broken and Peat is trying to locate a special truck that can reach 60 feet into the air that will allow him to fix the cable.
“In years past, one could just call the fire department and they would help us out, but red tape prevents us from using the fire department today,” Peat explained.
