Andrew S. Gonzales, 88, died on Jan. 15, 2004. A former resident
of Gilroy, he had lived in Shady Cove, Oregon, for the last nine
years.
Andrew S. Gonzales, 88, died on Jan. 15, 2004. A former resident of Gilroy, he had lived in Shady Cove, Oregon, for the last nine years.

Gonzales was born in Hilo, Hawaii, and came to California at the age of 3. He attended local schools and as a young man worked for the Porter Peabody Ranch in Gilroy. Later, he went on to own his own ranch in San Martin. After retiring from ranching, he worked for the Gilroy School District as a bus driver for nine years, receiving many “safe driver awards” during that time.

He was a handyman, discovering practical things before their time. He met and married Louise Olivieri of Gilroy. They were married for 53 years.

He is survived by his wife, Louise; son David H. Gonzales; daughter-in-law Elsa; and granddaughter Andrea, all of Florence, Ore. He also is survived by sisters Lucille Isenburger of Antioch, Vicky Henzi of Westwood, Anne Scettrini of Morgan Hill; brothers Frank Giminez of Morgan Hill, Tony Giminez of Morgan Hill, Moises Giminez of Mission; aunt Romona Corchero of Union City; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
