Live Oak improved to 6-6-2 and 3-0-1 in league, while Gilroy fell to 0-5 on season.
“They look they are a young team but they try hard,” Live Oak coach Tony Vasquez said. “They got a couple good girls this year. They graduated a couple good seniors from last year.”
Live Oak was able to split the time among the 20 players on the team.
“It was good to see some of the girls who don’t normally play play,” Vasquez said.
The Acorns lone tie in league this came in the Tri-County Athletic League opener against Hollister. The Acorns will be ready for the Balers this time when they face them today at Hollister, Vasquez said.
We were kind of down after the preseason and our confidence was at an all time low,” Vasquez said. “We have more confidence now and have been scoring goals. We are not going to do anything special. We faced a lot better forwards in preseason and didn’t do anything special. We will be going in now with confidence and hopefully pull out a win.”
