track meet this season by defeating Overfelt 73-57.
Morgan Hill – Josh Levy and Juillard Robinson were the big winners Thursday as Live Oak’s boys won their first Blossom Valley Athletic League track meet this season by defeating Overfelt 73-57.

Meanwhile, the once-beaten Acorn girls won all but three events to beat the Royals 101-32.

Levy was first in the 800 in 2:15, the 1,600 in 4:58, and the 3,200 in 11:31. The senior distance runner also ran a leg on the winning 4×400 relay team (3:50).

Robinson won the 100 in 11.3 and 200 in 23.5, and also had the winning high jump of 5-2.

Other Live Oak (1-3) winners were Joey Rodriguez in the 400, 57.6; Nic Muhn in the 300 hurdles, 44.9; and Matt Acosta in the shot put, 36-4. Acosta was also second in the discus with a heave of 105-1.

“I was pleased the boys got a victory under their belt,” Acorn coach Dean Raymond said. “They’ve been working hard.”

Katie Armstrong paced the girls, winning the 100 hurdles in 17.9, the 300 hurdles in 53.3, and running a leg on the victorious on 4 x 400 relay team (4:29). She was also third in the high jump.

Olivia Duran was a double winner, capturing the 1,600 in 5:43 and 3,200 in 13:01.

Freshman Ericka Rodriguez won the 100 in 13.2, and ran a leg on the winning 4 x 100 relay team. She was also second in the 200.

Other Acorn winners were Pauline Olsen, first in the 800 at 2:40; Courtney Robinson, first in the 200 in 27.0; Rebecca Webb, long jump, 13-8; Sarah Lopez, triple jump, 30-2; Kaleigh Mallette, pole vault, 6-6; and Kate Lowe, high jump, 4-10.

“I was pleased at how many points we were able to score,” Raymond said. “The girls performed very well.”

Live Oak’s next meet is at Leland at 3:30pm Wednesday.
