The annual fall membership brunch for the Morgan Hill Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. at Villa Mira Monte.
It is free and open to anyone interested in AAUW, a national organization that promotes equality and education for all women and girls. The event is designed to introduce new and prospective members to AAUW, its purpose and activities. Current members will have the opportunity to renew friendships and to preview programs for the upcoming year.
Special guests will include four eighth grade students from Morgan Hill who recently attended Tech Trek, a science-math camp for middle school girls held at Stanford University and sponsored by AAUW. The girls will share their experiences and talk about what they learned during the weeklong camp.
In November Dr. Kari Bertrand will be the featured speaker at a dinner meeting at the Golden Oak Restaurant.
The 21th annual Wildflower Run, which raises money for AAUW graduate fellowships and local scholarships, will be held in April 2004.
Additional branch activities include book and film discussion groups, hiking, restaurant dining and other educational, cultural and social events.
The American Association of University Women has over 100,000 members and 1300 branches nationwide. It is the largest and oldest organization working for the education and advancement of women and girls. Membership is open to anyone with a degree from an accredited college or university.
