A low-pressure system is expected to move in overnight, bringing rain into the North Bay Tuesday morning and spreading into South County by the evening, according to the National Weather Service. That storm will be followed by three others that will hit the region through early next week. High temperatures are expected in the high-50s and low-60s throughout the week, with lows in the low- to mid-40s. The series of storms could dump more than three inches of rain, the normal average amount received for the entire month of March, said Austin Cross, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Monterey.

The second, less severe storm, will hit the area Thursday into Friday, bringing widespread rain mostly to the North Bay, Cross said.

The weekend will see the third storm that will move across the region late Friday and continue through Saturday, with cold air dropping snow levels to about 1,500 feet by Saturday night, bringing the chance of thunder storms and hail.

“There will be a pretty good amount of rain and winds along the coast,” Cross said. “By the end of the weekend, we could seed substantial amounts of rain with six-day totals likely greater than the usual monthly normal in many spots.”

Finally, another storm is expected to hit Monday, with the chance of more storms into the middle of next week.

To date, Morgan Hill has seen about 9.5 inches of rain this season. The average yearly total (from July 1 to June 30) is about 20 inches.
