The City of Morgan Hill announced June 13 that city officials and staff will use the Polco platform to get residents’ feedback on government work and city issues.
Polco is a website and application used by municipalities to communicate with residents. According to the Polco website (info.polco.us), the platform allows cities to post polls and surveys, share profiles and analyze responses to questions. Residents need to create an account on Polco in order to access their city’s information
A press release sent by the city announcing the Polco platform pilot said the city received a grant that would allow it to test the program. “The city received a grant from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation to pilot Polco for the next year,” said the press release. “The grant provided the perfect opportunity for the city to enhance engagement efforts as part of the Engage Morgan Hill process, a year-and-a-half community conversation about services, funding and priorities, at no additional cost.”
The city has already begun using the application and website and has asked the first question of residents: “What topics are of most interest to you in better understanding the City of Morgan Hill’s services, funding and priorities?”
Respondents can choose three of seven answers provided: budget basics, city pensions, economic development, housing/growth, infrastructure, public safety and traffic/congestion.
According to the press release, the city will be using the platform more in the next few weeks and months.
