The City of Morgan Hill celebrated Earth Day early by hosting a variety of environmentally friendly businesses and organizations April 18 at the Community and Cultural Center. Representatives of Silicon Valley Clean Energy, Recology, Henry W. Coe State Park, Santa Clara County Green Business Program and other organizations staffed booths at the annual Earth Day event.

Attendees learned about the importance of recycling; the nearby presence of vast open space for recreational uses and how this land keeps our drinking water clean; how to start earth-friendly habits like carrying a reusable cup everywhere you go; and the availability of free programs—such as electronics recycling and safe hazardous material disposal—that residents can partake in to help improve the environment.

A variety of games and activities for children at the event aimed to teach kids about the importance of keeping the Earth clean. Pictured above, Sophie and Cooper Maggio proudly wear their Earth hats that they designed, crafted and colored at one of the booths at Morgan Hill’s Earth Day event.
