Morgan Hill Police arrested a young woman who was caught in the act of burglarizing a home in broad daylight over the weekend, according to authorities.
About 3:45pm March 23, police responded to a call reporting a possible burglary in progress on Tilton Avenue in north Morgan Hill. The reporting party told MHPD dispatch that she saw an unknown female suspect in her backyard, and then heard the sound of a window breaking, reads a press release from Morgan Hill Police.
The resident who reported the incident locked herself in a bathroom while police responded, police said.
As officers arrived, they determined the female suspect was still inside the home, according to police. The officers formed a perimeter around the home and waited for backup.
The suspect exited the residence through the front door, carrying a bag of stolen property, according to police. Upon finding herself surrounded by officers, the suspect tried to run away but was quickly arrested.
The woman, identified as Jessica Esparza Andrade, 18, had suffered injuries while entering the home through a broken window, police said. She was booked at Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of a number of felonies, including burglary and possession of stolen property.
