Sobrato keeper earns third shutout of season in scoreless

SAN JOSE — Sobrato missed an opportunity to gain ground on third-place Leland on Thursday, as the teams played to a scoreless tie in San Jose.
The Bulldogs remained in fourth outright at 4-4-6 overall and 3-3-3 in the Santa Teresa Division with five games left. Sobrato will play three of those against the bottom half of the league, starting at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at Piedmont Hills.
For the Bulldogs, junior goalkeeper Ramsey Ghamrawi earned his third shutout of the season.
The Chargers (7-3-3, 2-1-3) lead Sobrato by less than a game.
Live Oak 2, San Jose 0
On the same day second-place Silver Creek lost to Santa Teresa, the Acorns ran their unbeaten streak to 12 games and padded their lead in the West Valley Division title race behind second-half goals by Ubaldo Lopez and Dylan Frechette.
Jesse Hernandez and Cesar Lustre had assists for visiting Live Oak (6-2-7, 6-0-3), which will play back-to-back home games next week against Evergreen Valley and Independence. The Acorns are undefeated in Morgan Hill this season.
The Bulldogs (0-9-1, 0-7-1) remained winless.
